Centerpoint Feature on Cricut

     I love the CENTERPOINT feature on the Cricut Expression. It makes it so much easier for me to make printed labels or tags, such as these:

  

     I simply printed out my wordings on cardstock and cut 'em out with the Cricut (George cart.). I've always wanted to make oval labels and been tempted to purchase an oval punch (quick fix) and luckily, I've been successful at convincing myself otherwise. Oval punches (and other basic shapes like circles and squares) can be very limited in sizes and cannot fit as many words in them. They're good for random die-cuts but for labels and tags, they don't offer much flexibility. 

    

      Here's how I used the labels I made today:

As a gift tag 

I matted the tag with 2 more ovals to highlight it even more.

I used the 2 other small ones as part of the title
 of my latest mini album. 

Here's a close-up of the the label below the "Luau" title.

     Lastly, I used the biggest one for the back cover of my latest mini album (I will share the mini album with you in a separate post):

Album is 6x6. I cut the label at 5.5.
It fit perfectly.

     If I had to use oval punches to do the above, I would have needed to purchase about 4 different sizes. Plus, there's no 5.5in. punch available to create the label in that last photo above. Or at least I haven't seen one! : )

Dessert Bar Banner

     Took a while but I finally found it...a photo of the dessert bar banner I had made for Ysabella's birthday party last April 8th. I was actually looking for a different photo when I happened to see this. I didn't know our volunteer photographer (thanks, Aivs!) was able to capture the banner in full view.

"Ysabella's Sweet Shop" Banner

     I made the banner using the following Cricut cartridges: Birthday Bash (banner), Ribbons & Rosettes (rosettes) and Alphalicious (letters). Colors I used: Kraft (banner base), Cream (banner), Pink (letters), and Pink/Green patterned papers (rosettes). I strung the pieces together with a ribbon. Super-easy to make. This can also be created without a Cricut. Simple cutting with scissors will do for the banner shape, and then the letters can just be enlarged and printed out from a word-processing software. There's a million fonts available on the web nowadays so the letters should not be a problem at all.

     This was another banner I made for that day. It says "Happy Birthday Ysabella". I altered the colors on this one a little bit, and I used Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut cartridge for the flowers.

     I hope this helps anyone who's planning to make a diy banner. I just find them really pretty and they add some character to any kind of party or celebration.

Cards Mania Part II

Cards Mania

     Hi everyone! Some cards craziness going on here : ) Today I want to share some cards I had just created. All of them are "summer-themed" except for one that's "travel-related" (actually, it's also appropriate for summer since most of us take road trips in the summertime).

This one's a cute doily card sporting a
slice of watermelon. This design was inspired by my co-worker
Kat's watermelon obsession!

A very simple "send-off" card for someone who's going
on a trip.

This one's a cutie! Nothing can be more summer-ry than this : )
That little banner on top says "Summer Fun".

Is there anything more relaxing than this???
I'll put "a hammock" on my wish list. Even if it's just for
the backyard : )

Jungle Boogie - a safari themed mini album

     Hi everyone! I want to share with you "Jungle Boogie", a mini album that I finished last night. It's an "express mini album", I finished it in 2 nights! A friend had requested it for her nephew's safari-themed 1st birthday. I kept it simple. It didn't require any captions or journaling, because the plan is just to put some random photos in it, and display it at the birthday boy's dessert table during his party. Plus, the pretty patterned papers made it so easy. I used "Safari Kids" and "Animal Crackers" by DCWV. Older collections but definitely not out-dated. Here are the Cricut cartridges I used: Create a Critter for the safari images, Life's a Party for the title, Alphalicious for the name "Babbu" (I welded it), and Base Camp for the letter tags that hang in the binder ring. This post is photo heavy....enjoy!

A Cricut Cake Topper

     Hello! Another weekend flying by so fast... I want to share a cake topper I made out of my Cricut. My co-worker Kat baked a cake for our boss and we used the topper to decorate it. The sentiment is from the Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge and the banner and letters are from the Birthday Bash cart. It's held by 2 lollipop sticks. I used mini glue dots to stick them together. I just thought the mini banner looked so cute, something different. I used some floss to string the banner together.

I came, I saw, I conquered!

      I had been itching to go to Joann's since Thursday, but trying to convince myself otherwise. Needless to say, I did go after 2 days of "trying not to". And here's what I found (and bought, consequently)!

  I am in the process of reading "Paris, My Sweet" by Amy Thomas. So when

 I saw this recipe book at Joann's...ta-daaa! I felt some kind of connection : )

 This is it! I am going to learn how to bake. I mean it this time.

 (Or at least learn how to make cute, little, happy desserts).

 

And then of course, these.....Well, they're on sale, so it's okay : )

I finally gave in to "Baby Steps" from Cricut. I just feel like I needed something

for baby projects because friends are having babies left and right!

Then there's "Straight From the Nest", which is really cute.

The punches are also on sale. Love the Robots edger...nice for boy-themed projects.

The paper pads are old releases but since they're cheaper now, it's a good time to get 'em.

     And then...today, for some reason, I ended up at AC Moore! But I believe it was destiny. My family went to take our friend Jeff (who was visiting from California) out to lunch and since AC Moore was in the area, my husband dropped me off at the store after we had eaten, and they went off to a sporting goods store. And what do you know, the store has the newly released "Tablescapes - Spring and Summer". Hooray for AC Moore!!! Not only that, they also have "Pretty Pennants", which I never heard of. So it was destiny alright.

         

     This is one happy weekend. 'Hope you had a happy one, too!
